30M, 70 kg.
How bad is 5 mg per day for the kidneys (because apparently it is bad for the kidneys).
Anything else with the same purposes but a bit less bad for kidneys?

Who told you it is bad for the kidneys? It is mainly eliminated from the kidneys but eith normal functioning kidneys there wouldn't be an issue. Never heard of kidney injury from desloratidine

the paper says caution if .... kidney problems. then again, most drugs have this caution.

The reason is that like I said it is eliminated from the body by the kidneys. The issue is that it would build up in the body after many doses in patients with kidney problems. Does not actively damage the kidney parenchyma.
